New Year Tips to Kick Start Your 2020

Time to start the New Year, so if you are feeling a bit low, read our helpful guide.

It is nearly that time again, Christmas will be here before we know it and then it will be out with the old and in with the new. Post-Christmas can be a strange time, the run-up to the New Year can be stressful and feel expensive after all that Christmas shopping. However follow our guide below to get yourself in a positive mindset to kick start your 2020.

Declutter the Wardrobe

First of all, have a look through your clothes and see what you have been hanging onto. The rule is if you didn't wear it last year, move it to one side. If you don't touch it by the end of the correct season, it should be sold or sent to a charity shop. This not only allows you to see what you’ve got but it gives you a chance to add some new pieces that you might actually wear.

A Clean Diet

You wouldn't be human if you didn't overindulge a little bit during the festive season, but to get your 2020 off to a good start why not overhaul your diet a little bit. Whether you want to lose a few stones or just add healthy food to your meal planning this is a great time to do it. You could also think about joining the gym and getting yourself fitter at the same time. Many gyms provide special offers for those registering after the New Year, so why not take advantage of this?

Learn something new!

Before 2020 enters, you might want to consider making some New Year’s resolutions. Why not set yourself a few new challenging’s, such as taking up a dance class, learning a new language, or learning how to budget and save. Psychologists have found we're more likely to succeed if we break our resolution into smaller goals that are specific, measurable and time-based, so give it ago and see what you can achieve.

Move House

Many people feel motivated to make significant changes when the new year rolls in, and for some people that means moving house. If you are renting your choices are right there waiting for you, so it is time to get out and have a look. For those looking to sell and buy somewhere new, there is a little more work to do. Did you know the best month of the year to add your house to the market is March? This means you have a couple of months to clear some of those niggling jobs you have been putting off, like fixing the dripping tap or painting the spare room. Preparing a house for the market can take some time and involves removing clutter and creating a blank canvas. Many buyers can lack imagination and if they see bright decor that they don't like, they find it difficult to visualise themselves living there. Selling your home in March also gives you plenty of time to find your new dream property when there is a lot to choose from on the market.
